How to Place a Bike Wanted Advertisement to Do a Charity Ride

Many people ride across the United States for Charity or go on long bike rides and get pledges, of course none of this is easy and first you need to get a bike. It makes sense to save money and by a used bike on E-Bay or from Craig's List, yet still you must realize that the bike has to make it the whole way or everyone loses.

If you buy a new bike that is just money that would have gone to charity, thus slightly defeating the purpose and if you buy a new bike it will be somewhat trashed by the time you ride it that far. Below is a sample ad you can use to create your own "Bike Wanted Ad" to solicit sellers:

Need all carbon Ten Speed for Charity Ride (Juvenile Diabetes) across USA, 200 miles daily, want to go fast to keep up on each leg. Excellent and new condition only. Need puncture resistant tires; Hopefully your bike has a Comfortable seat; I would prefer yellow or blue or combination, but most important are the other factors; Not brand specific; 54-56 size; Must be in great shape it has to make it across the nation, if it only makes it half way the kids organization will be hurt, cannot risk a bike in less than excellent condition. No stolen merchandise, I will check manufacturers ID numbers. I am willing to list a small business, Corp or individual on the sponsor list as well, it is a great cause. Juvenile Diabetes is a serious health issue on our already over stressed health care system, now is the time to act. Thank You.

Good luck on your bike acquisition strategy and I hope this has been worthy of your time to read. Maybe our bike paths may cross one day. Until then all the best.
